Trezor Hardware Wallet — Quick Start & Login Guide

A concise, secure, and modern quick-start walkthrough for first-time setup and signing into your hardware wallet.

Quick Start

Before you begin

Keep your recovery seed offline and private. Only use the official Trezor website or Trezor Suite for setup. Avoid public Wi‑Fi and don't enter your recovery phrase on a computer.

1

Unbox & Inspect

Check the tamper-evident seal; confirm the device model and serial number match the paperwork.

2

Connect & Initialize

Connect via USB to your computer and open the official setup tool. Choose create a new wallet unless you are restoring.

3

Write Down Recovery Seed

A recovery seed (usually 12–24 words) is the only backup of your funds. Write it down on the provided card — never store it digitally.

4

Set a PIN

Choose a PIN you can remember but others cannot guess. The device will show randomized positions when you enter it to prevent shoulder-surfing.

5

Verify Firmware

If prompted, verify the firmware fingerprint and only accept updates from official sources. Firmware verification ensures device integrity.

6

Finalize & Test

Send a small test transaction to confirm everything works. Use the device to confirm transaction details on-screen before approving.

Security Tips

  • Never share your recovery words. Scammers may try to trick you via email or phone.
  • Keep firmware up to date, but only install updates from the official Trezor channels.
  • Consider a metal backup for added physical durability of your recovery phrase.
